You should be able to get 350 HP with ported 289 heads. If you want to really wake up that 289, use a 294S solid lifter cam and you'll approach 375-380 HP. After 4 seasons of abuse form track and light street use i sold the short block and the guy is still running it today, that was 3 years ago.
